The Tamil Film Producers Council has chosen to suspend temporarily actor Vishal from the primary membership of the council.
The TFPC, in a letter that was released with its seal, claimed that actor Vishal’s interview to a vernacular magazine on August 17 was an act that could “destroy the unity” and orderliness of the council.
It further said that it had sent a letter on September 2, seeking an explanation from him in this regard. The letter had also listed other instances where Vishal’s acts had allegedly resulted in destroying the unity of the council, the TFPC said.
Vishal replied to TFPC’s letter and this letter was discussed at the TFPC Executive Committee meeting on November 12. “As the committee found the explanation provided to be unsatisfactory, it passed a resolution that under 14 D of the council’s laws, the proprietor of M/S Vishal Film Factory, Vishal, be temporarily suspended from the primary membership of the council from today.”
It may be recalled that the Tamil Film Producers’ Council had taken exception to statements issued by actor Vishal, the Secretary of the SIAA and a member of the Tamil Film Producers Council, during the course of an interview to a vernacular magazine. The TFPC had demanded that the actor tender an apology for his comments within a week’s time or face action.
