Fox Star Studios, a division of Hollywood giant 20th Century Fox has set its eyes on Tamil film industry. It has signed a two film deal with ace director A R Murugadoss. With this deal, A R Murugadoss has become the first Tamil film director to have a tie up with Fox Star Studios which has emerged as the biggest Hollywood studio in India.
A press meet was organized in Chennai on Sunday to announce the tie up where Murugadoss, Sanford Panitch, Head of Fox International Productions and Vijay Singh CEO of Fox Star Studios were present.
Speaking at the event, Murugadoss said, “It will be a unique film with a fresh and differential youthful love story which will connect with the Tamil audiences. I’m extremely excited to work with Fox Star Studios India. It gives me a chance to use my deep association with the Tamil film industry to tell exciting new stories.”
This yet to be titled film will be directed by Saravanan, a long time associate of Murugadoss. Jai and Vimal play the lead roles, Thaman is going to score the music and Velraj is the cinematographer. Jackson is the art director. Meanwhile, A R Murugadoss is shooting his next film Ezham Arivu starring Suriya and Shruti Haasan.
Fox Star Studios had recently distributed My Name is Khan across the world. My Name is Khan turned out to be the second highest grossing films of all time in India and the highest grossing film in the overseas market. Fox Star Studios’ parent company 20th Century Fox which is owned by media mogul Rupert Murdoch had distributed James Cameron’s Avatar.
