Frenzied fans in Tamil Nadu celebrated the release of the Vikram-starrer Irumugan, which hit screens in Telugu as Inkokkudu today. The film is releasing in around 500 screens all over the world.
While the Indian censors have given the film a U/A certificate, the British authorities have given it a 12 A. Well known film analyst Tarun Adarsh tweeted, “Tamil film #IruMugan certified 12A by British censors. Approved run time is 154 min 7 seconds”.
Films granted a 12A certificate contain material that is not generally suitable for children below 12. So, basically what it means is that no one younger than 12 may see the film in a cinema unless accompanied by an adult.
Irumugan, which features Vikram in dual roles, one as a RAW agent called Akilan and as the villain called Love, has Nayanthara and Nithya Menon playing the heroines. The film has been directed by Anand Shankar and produced by Shibu Thameens.
