Actor Simbu has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneer Selvam for fulfilling three requests he put forth on behalf of the Tamil people.
In a statement, the actor said, “We all have witnessed that the Jallikattu protest has to be a revolutionary emblem. As a Tamilian, I feel proud to have been one among the millions in joining this revolution. At the same time, it is a little disappointing to see that the non-violent protest had to end on a violent note.
“Having shared my grief over the critical situation, I put forward three requests on the behalf of the Tamil people – the release of fisherman, students and many others involved in the protest from the prison, Compensation to those affected by violence during the protest and the third being that the government make an official declaration to host Jallikattu, denoting it as a token of victory.
“Accordingly, the honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, O Panneer Selvam, has announced that Rs 70 Lakh had been allotted to the establishment of a permanent fish market at Nadukuppam. Thirty six students and a few others who were arrested during the protest would be released. I humbly thank the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister for accepting our plea and doing the needful.
“His honourable affirmation on hosting the game of Jallikattu across Alanganallur, Aavanipuram and Palamedu has offered us even more joy,” he added.
