ROMEO

• This is the first time that Ganesh and Bhavana are pairing up. A romantic comedy, Romeo is directed by Tamil filmmaker PC Sekhar, who also directed Nayaka which won critical-acclaim. So naturally, expectations are high from Romeo. The film is being produced by Naveen, who incidentally was the male lead of Nayaka. Romeo’s shooting and post-production are complete and the film is scheduled for release in June.

• The promos of the movie have become popular on the internet and TV, especially the promo song composed by Arjun Janya, though it is not part of the original movie. According to Naveen, this is a new experiment in a Kannada movie though it is common in Hindi films. Interestingly, Arjun Janya makes a special appearance in the song promo of Romeo, the songs of the films have already made it to the top 10.

• The story has been written by PC Sekhar, who has taken Ganesh’s ‘lover boy’ image into perspective. According to the director, Ganesh has a tailor-made role in Romeo and has excelled in it. The movie revolves around the lead pair, how they meet accidentally and fall in love.

• Ganesh is pinning his hopes on Romeo while gearing up for his next, 420. His Shyloo was a hit, but his last film Munjane directed by S Narayan, failed at the boxoffice. Bhavana however, is on a roll with two hits in a row. And if Romeo makes it, she will have another hit in her kitty, catapulting her straight into the top league.
