Mammootty goes ‘Hunting’ in Kannada

Mammootty, one of the two big Ms of Malayalam film industry, will soon make his debut in Kannada. The veteran Malayalee actor who has several hit films to his credit will star in a film titled ‘Shikari’. Interestingly, he will play a dual role, one as a software engineer and the other as a freedom fighter.

In December, 2009 his Malayalam film ‘Pazahassi Raja’ was a blockbuster and his recent release ‘Pramani’ had released in last week of March.

Mammootty’s debut film in Kannada will be directed by Abhay Sinha who’s said to be an ardent fan of Mammootty. Grapevine has it that Abhay Sinha is planning to rope in Konkana Sen Sharma as the lead actress in this film. Although, there are no confirmed reports that she has signed the film, it would be quite a casting coup that a Malayalee actor and a Hindi actress would act together for a Kannada film. Abhay Sinha, a graduate of FTII-Pune, shot to fame after the 45-minute documentary on psychology of twins, trips and quadruplets. He has 19 documentaries, 10 short films and two music videos to his credit. This new film is expected to go on floors in the first week of May.

Mammootty’s next Malayalam release is a multi-starrer titled ‘Pokkiri Raja’ which has Mammootty, Prithvi Raj and Shriya in lead roles. The other ‘M’ of Malayalam, Mohanlal is acting in a new Malayalam film titled ‘Shikar’. Quite a coincidence, we say!
