Sanjjanaa finally becomes busy in Kannada

Model-turned-actress Sanjjanaa Archana is gradually emerging as one of the most sought-after actress in Kannada though she made her debut on the silver screen four years ago.

The actor has been busy since the beginning of this year. She surprised everyone by bagging the female lead role in Shivarajkumar’s 99th film Mailari. The actress will be seen in two songs with the hat-trick hero in the film.

Last week, the producers of Ramesh Aravind’s comedy movie – Rangappa Hogbittna? – roped in Sanjjanaa for the movie as the lead actress. She is on cloud nine! “Now, I can proudly claim that I am a busy actress,” she says.

Though Sanjjanaa had the opportunity to act in Ramesh’s directorial Accident, she could not take up the opportunity due to some reason.

Rangappa Hogbittna? is being directed by M L Prasanna, who wrote dialogue for commercially successful movies Moggina Manassu and Krishnan Love Story. Sanjjanaa has high expectations from this latest venture.

Two of her Kannada films – Ee Sanje and Sloka – are scheduled for release. She is acting in another film with Prem of Nenapirali fame.

Her busy schedule in Kannada does not mean that she has stopped acting in other language films. She has been selected as the female lead in a Malayalam film (her first) – Casanova – opposite none other than the superstar Mohan Lal.

When she debuted in 2006 through Ganda Hendthi, a remake of the hit Hindi film Murder, Sanjjanaa became a sensation overnight in the Kannada film industry for her bold exposure in the film. The film did perform well, but also earned Sanjjanaa the tag of a sex symbol, something that she never aspired for. Offers flooded her with similar roles that demanded skin show. But she was not willing to take the bait.

She stayed away from movies for a few months after which she was selected for Telugu movie Bujjigadu. Later, Sanjjanaa went on to act in several Telugu films Sathyameva Jayathe, Samardhudu and Police Police. In the meantime, she also acted in Kannada films Rakshaka and Arjun. The dubbed version of Police Police is being released in Tamil soon.
