Uppi shoots song in Bangalore
Real Star Upendra has commenced the last leg of shooting for his next big-budget multi-lingual untitled film, which has a symbol of ‘Hasthamudra’. Sandalwood has given its own title to the movie ‘Super’. But Uppi, so far, has not commented on the title.
The song shooting took place at various locations in the IT capital of the nation. Nayantara, who is making her debut in Kannada, was found dancing with Uppi in various sarees. The song was choreographed by Sandalwood’s hottest choreographer Imran Sardhariya. He has choreographed two others songs for the movie.
Uppi is donning the director’s hat nearly after a decade. His demands are always ever-changing and he expects flexibility from his team members. Imran is known for choreographing some of the hit tracks, including the biggest hit of 2009, Hosa Gana Bajaana from Puneet Rajkumar’s movie Raam. In 2009, 6 out of the top 10 Kannada hits were choreographed by Imran. No wonder, Uppi wants to go with the boy enjoying roaring success.
The team recently returned from a two week schedule in London and Dubai where two songs and various scenes were shot. According to Uppi, majority of the shooting for the movie is complete with some patch work left.
The movie is being produced by Rockline Venkatesh with a budget of nearly Rs 15 crore, making it one of the costliest Kannada films. Shooting for the Telugu and Tamil versions are being carried out simultaneously by Uppi. Music for some songs have been composed by V Manohar. Ashok Cashyap is the cinematographer.
The multi-talented Sadhu Kokila provides comic relief in the movie. Uppi is playing the cards very close to his chest not willing to reveal much about the movie.
One of the most creative directors in the Kannada film industry, Uppi had given up directing movies and taken to full time acting a decade ago. Obviously, he had found that acting was paying more than directing.
But most of his recent films failed at the box office. In 2009, there was not even a single hit to his credit. Bhimoo’s Bang Bang Kids – a children’s movie directed by Rajendra Singh Babu, featuring Upendra in a Superman type role is yet to hit the screens as distributors have backed out. The consecutive failures have prompted Uppi to direct his own film.
