Actress Samantha is someone who not only excels but also improvises. The actress, who has had a dream run this year, is the darling of the Tamil and Telugu film industries because she has been learning something from each of her projects.
While talking to SouthScope earlier, the actress disclosed some of the lessons she had learnt.
Says Samantha, “My first film this year was Theri. As soon as I listened to the script, I was like,’ I have a blockbuster’ and I walked out really, really happy because it is not often that a heroine gets a good role in a superstar’s film. However, I remember the first show of Theri. After the first show, people said it was not going to run. I went blank for those first few hours. I was shooting for A Aa then and thanks to that team, I got a few hours to settle down. I was reeling from the shock generated by the feedback after the first show because I was a 100 per cent sure that Theri was going to be a hit film. Three hours later, they told me it was a super hit. So, what I have learnt by this experience is that ‘Do not trust the first show’.
“Thank God, I picked this lesson up in Theri because it happened again with Janatha Garage. After the first show, they said, ‘It’s a flop’ but this time, I was like ‘Calm down, I’ll wait for tomorrow.’ The next day, news emerged that this was the biggest blockbuster of Junior NTR’s career.
“The lesson I learnt while working on 24 was to carry more warm clothing while working in cold locations. That is because we were shooting in Poland for two songs. It was such a beautiful location with forests on one side, there were sand dunes and at the other side, there’s sea. But then, it was minus something and the breeze was chilling to the bone. So, more warm clothes when shooting in cold places was what I learnt there,” she says.
Finally, talking about A Aa, Samantha says, “Everything about this film is a learning experience. It is a film that I will always hold most precious to me because I learnt how a relationship with the team can bring out your best performance. Sometimes, you are on edge and if you are looking for magic, it can happen not because of you but because of the people around you. That is what happened with me in A aa. If people say that it is my best performance it is because of the people I worked with in that film.
