Director Bala known from Sethu to Paradesi in his career has delivered six critically and commercially acclaimed Tamil feature films, who has also won a National Award for Naan Kadavul for the Best Director and four national awards for others in his fi lms and he has also won six International Tamil Film Awards and many more to his kitty has internatio nally gone global with his recent film “Paradesi” (Vagabond).
Director Bala’s recent fi lm “Paradesi” (Vagabond) which was based on Dr. P.H Daniel periodical novel “Red Tea” won rare reviews and was critically acclaimed in India and as was well received all over the world and the fi lm also has the credentials for releasing in sixty screens in North India for the first time for any Tamil fi lm distributed by Director Anurag kashyap through Phantom Films.
“Paradesi” (Vagabond) which has been nominated in eight categories at London International Filmmakers Film Festival is the very fi rst for any Tamil Movie to have been nominated for eight awards in the International competition which has films from America,Russia,Lebonan,South Korea, Chili and all over Europe. The nominations are as follows with director Bala being nominated in four categories for the Best film,Best Director,Best foreign film and Best Director for a foreign fi lm, with Adharvaa Murali for the Best Actor Male, Chezhian for Cinematography, GV.Prakash for the Best Music and National award winner Poornima Ramaswamy for Costumes. The festival starts by 13th of October 2013 with a red carpet in London and there on the competition and the final announcement of the winners will be held by the end of the festival by 18th of October. Vagabond is the English title in the competition for “Paradesi”. The International version carries English subtitles and the International Background Score Mix.
