Actor Vishal, who is also the general secretary of the South Indian Artistes Association (SIAA) better known as the Nadigar Sangam, has said that he is neither a brand ambassador of PETA nor is he a supporter of the organisation.
The actor, who was talking to mediapersons on the occasion of the birthday celebrations of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M G Ramachandran, said, “Right from January 5, there have been reports on social media suggesting that I have spoken against Jallikattu and that I am a supporter of PETA. Spreading such malicious rumours is wrong. I didn’t even know the full form of PETA and have only now got to know of it. I do not support PETA nor am I its brand ambassador. “
He further added, “I am a supporter of Jallikattu. I too will get down to work to ensure that Jallikattu formally takes place next year. At the moment, I am, individually doing, whatever is possible to make Jallikattu happen. The cries of youngsters who are involved in the struggle to lift the ban on Jallikattu would have definitely been heard by the Centre. Definitely, the Centre will take all necessary steps to ensure that Jallikattu is officially held next year. I also wish to clarify that the Nadigar Sangam has nothing to do with PETA.”
