Actor Kamal Haasan was among scores of people who paid tribute to one of India’s finest actors, Om Puri, who passed away on Friday.
Kamal took to Twitter to pay his respects. He tweeted, “So long Omji. Prided myself on being his friend peer & admirer. Who dare say my Om Puri is no more ? He lives through his work.”
The veteran actor and Padma Shri winner passed away on Friday morning due to a heart attack. He was 66.
The actor, best known for films like Ardh Satya and Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, is survived by his estranged wife Nandita Puri and son Ishaan Puri.
Om Puri’s sudden death has left the industry in shock and his colleagues have expressed their sadness.
Om Puri was born in Ambala, Haryana. His father worked in the railways and in the Indian Army.
He graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. He was also an alumnus of the 1973 class of the National School of Drama.
