Hat-trick Hero Shivarajkumar ushered in 2011 in a different manner by launching his next film titled ‘Lakshmi’ in which multilingual actress Priyamani will play the female lead.
Shooting for the film is on in Bangalore. The movie is being directed by Raghava Loki, who directed ‘Gilli’ in the past. ‘Lakshmi’ is being produced by a non-film entity Bharani Minerals. The launch was attended by Parvathamma Rajkumar and directors Soori and Guruprasad.
Priyamani, who had a highly successful outing in 2010, has begun the new-year on a happy note. ‘Raam’ (opposite Puneet Rajkumar) and ‘Eno Onethara’ (opposite Ganesh) earned her rave rave reviews in Kannada films. Though she is flooded with offers, Priyamani is careful in selecting her project.
At the launch of ‘Lakshmi’, she drew huge applause from the audience as she started interacting with them on stage. Her statement to the crowd, “I am Lakshmi, and nobody can touch me,” complemented the film’s story, which focuses on womanhood. ‘Lakshmi’ can be a challenging project for Priyamani as she will be the focal point of the story.
Though Shivarajkumar’s ‘Mailari’ is performing well at the box office, it has not created the stir as ‘Jackie’ or Upendra’s untitled film. The producer is satisfied with collections of the first two weeks. The title song ‘Mailapura Mailari’, sung by Puneet Rajkumar, featuring Sanjjanaa Archana was a smash hit.
The actor, who is at the doorstep of his 100th film – ‘Jogayya’ – directed by the maverick Prem will be released shortly. The movie is a sequel to the blockbuster ‘Jogi’, also directed by Prem. Apart from ‘Lakshmi’ Shivanna has 7 other projects lined up in 2011. He could easily be one of the busiest actors of 2011 even at the age of 49!
