Actor Simbu has taken strong exception to the news of police personnel resorting to a baton charge on students demanding the lifting of the ban on the sport of Jallikattu.
Several youngsters all across Tamil Nadu have been demanding that the ban imposed on the traditional sport of Jallikattu be lifted. They have been organising protests in this regard. Recently, youngsters in Madurai staged a protest demanding that the ban on the ancient sport be revoked. However, police personnel, present at the place of the protest, baton charged the protestors. Despite the baton charge, youngsters still continued to protest.
Actor Simbu, who learnt about the police’s move, took to Twitter to voice his displeasure at the development.
He tweeted, “Heart bleeds to hear about the latthi charge on students supporting #JalliKattu. As a Tamil brother I am here for you. Can’t keep quiet anymore.”
He further tweeted, “They have shown us their colour. Now we Tamils will show them our colour & unity. Wait & see what real Tamils can do !! #PressMeet shortly”
