Several stars have condoled the death of the two Kannada actors, Anil and Uday, who drowned while shooting a chase sequence for a Kannada film on Monday.
The actors had reportedly jumped from a helicopter into a reservoir for the climax sequence of the film Masthigudi. They never surfaced after plunging into the waters from a height of around 30 feet.
Actress Vedhika, like many others who were deeply disturbed to know of the incident, took to Twitter to express her thoughts on the tragic incident. She tweeted, ” Deeply disturbed to hear about the demise of Kannada actors #Uday&Anil during filming a stunt. . Speaking from personal experience of having faced an accident on one of my film sets, its unbelievable how often risk assessment n scrupulous safety standards are neglected during filming stunts. No matter how simple or complex the stunt, health and safety sof actors should not be taken lightly.Strength to their families.” (sic).
Divya Spandana, who is also an MP from Karnataka, expressed shock at the unfortunate incident and also put forth the point that the Kannada film industry must make the need to safeguard every crewmember a rule.
She tweeted, “Don’t think the stuntmaster thought through the process- it takes skill to swim beneath a hovering helicopter creating gale-force winds.Regardless of whether you are the lead actor or not, every crew member must be safeguarded- The Kannada film industry must make it a rule.”
The accident saddened people across film industries. One among them was actress Nivetha Thomas, who posted a Rest in Peace message on her Twitter account.
