Karthi on his love for food

Southscope quizzed Karthi about his food preferences. Here's what he has to say:

What’s your favourite cuisine?

I love Mexican and Thai cuisine, especially the kind that’s not part of a franchise. You have these little places in the US, where a family runs a restaurant – a mother and daughter will set up one. And the food is delicious. It’s all a bit exotic. And it tastes like home, actually.

What’s your favourite dish?

Ah, I like everything. I don’t discriminate. But yeah, Mexican dishes rule.

Fair enough. What about closer home, in Chennai?

I really go to town. I love vegetable biryani.

Do you cook?

Of course. I’ve had to, what with living in the US by myself. But I can cook only basics, stuff like upma, chicken and sambar (laughs).What else would I know?

How would you rate yourself, regarding food?

I’m a food lover, definitely. Come on, you should know better than to ask me this, considering how I look (laughs)!

Was there ever a dish that totally ruined your meal?

I hate certain smells when the dishes are being cooked. Raw food, especially. Can’t stand them.

Does your wife Ranjani cook?

She loves baking actually. She’s very good.
