Uu Kodathara? Ulikki Padathara?
This is a dream project for Manoj Manchu, who has been planning Uu Kodathara? Ulikki Padathara? (UKUP) for the last three years. The movie is being made in both Telugu and Tamil. Lakshmi Manchu is producing the movie under a new banner.
Based on a socio-fantasy theme, UKUP has Nandamuri Balakrishna in a prominent role. The movie star cast resembles the ‘who’s who’ of the Telugu film industry. The lineup includes Sai Kumar, Brahmanandam, Madhumita and several others. The Tamil version of the movie has several towering personalities as well, such as Suhasini Maniratnam and Prabhu.
The movie is directed by Sekhar Raja and UKUP happens to be his first project. For a long time, Sekhar was director Krishna Vamshi’s assistant. He had developed the script keeping Manoj Manchu in mind.
Telugu cinema is riding on the success of socio-fantasy films. It does not come as a surprise that Sekhar has selected the same storyline. But will it work for Manoj? According to reliable sources, the movie is being made lavishly. For instance, Lakshmi Manchu had erected a set – Gandharva Mahal – at an estimated cost of 6.5 crores and nearly 50 percent of the movie was shot inside it. Going by the Manchu family tradition, audiences can expect a blitzkrieg before the movie hits the theatres eventually.
