The audio launch of Rajnikanth, Aishwarya Rai starrer Robo was held at Taj Krishna in Hyderabad on August 6. Directed by Shankar, the film has been produced by Kalanithi Maran on Sun Pictures banner. Chiranjeevi was the chief guest of the event and Mohan Babu too graced the event. Ramanaidu, Ramesh Prasad, Kajal, Rathnavelu, Anthony, Bharat, Suddala Ashok Teja, Bhuvanachandra, Vanamali were also present at the event. Aishwarya Rai was conspicuous by her absence.

Speaking at the event, lyric writers, Suddala Ashok Teja, Bhuvanachandra, Vanamali shared their experiences of working with Shankar and A R Rahman. All of them immensely praised Vairamuthu who had written the lyrics for the Tamil version, Endhiran. Later, Sri Ramakrishna, the dialogue writer too gave a gist of the sheer amount of hardwork that went into making this film. Hansraj Saxena, the COO of Sun Pictures addressed the gathering and said, “Kalanithi Maran has taken a huge risk in producing Robo. It’s been in production for almost two years and it has turned out to be one of the most extravagant films made in Asia. This is also by far Shankar’s biggest film. I would like to thank Shankar, Rajnikanth, Aishwarya Rai and Sabu Cyril for making this film possible. The audio of the Tamil version was released a few days ago in Malaysia and it’s the first Indian album to reach the top spot on iTunes-World section. We are all proud of A R Rahman’s work.”

Ramesh Prasad, the chief of Prasads Multiplex praised Shankar and Rajnikanth for the hard work they have put in for the film. He went a step ahead and said he expects Robo to scale the height of James Cameron’s Avatar, if not more! He also appreciated Shankar for adapting to the latest technological advances in Cinema. Mohanbabu spoke of his friendship with Rajnikanth and wished that his film turns out to be a huge success. Later, director Shankar revealed few interesting details about the film saying, “The story, Rajnikanth’s characterization and visual effects are the three main highlights of the film. There are more than 1500 Graphic shots and for the first time we are using a technique called animatronics to enhance the visual experience. Sabu Cyril has done outstanding work to make the film futuristic and some Hollywood technicians who worked on the film said that those sets reminded them of Stanely Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odessey. I am also indebted to the producer Kalanithi Maran, without his support this film wouldn’t have been possible. Rajnikanth’s role has three variations, one of them is a scientist, and another one is a robot where he had to act without any facial expressions. He has joined the league of Kamal Haasan and Vikram in terms of the extent of makeup used to make his look authentic. The third role is being kept in suspense, but I promise you that it will be a thrilling one.”
