Rajnikanth's Robo audio launched in style
Rajnikanth spoke with his usual style peppered with wit and simplicity. He claimed, “I think I can write a book on making of this film. I know how many people mocked at us when the film was almost at a stage of being shelved. But, if it wasn’t for Kalanithi Maran, this film wouldn’t have been possible. Maybe we have spent around 130-150 crores, but the past two years have been quite exciting. After Sivaji, I was almost contemplating to quit acting. At that time, I had heard that Shankar was planning to a do a film named Robo with Shahrukh Khan. One day, Shankar met me to discuss about Robo and asked me to be a part of it. I thought he would offer the role of the villain and was looking for a way out of the project. When he said that he wants me to be the hero, I was shocked. I told him that I can’t build a six-pack at this age like the youngsters and he replied that he just wants me the way I am. Later when he said that Aishwarya Rai is the heroine, I was baffled and said, “Are you joking?” I think this film is going to make history and sincerely wish for its success.”
The chief guest, Chiranjeevi admired Shankar’s vision as a director and said that he manages to have a perfect balance between commercial elements and social awareness in his films. Recounting his association with Rajnikanth, he said that the veteran superstar has always been a huge inspiration and guide to him. He chided Rajni and said, “He pushed me into politics and now he’s acted in a film like Robo. I feel jealous”. The statement sparked loud cheer and laughter among the audience. Having launched the audio and trailers of the film, Chiranjeevi concluded saying, “If at all I make a comeback into films then Robo would be an inspiration.”
