Taking exception to statements issued by actor Vishal, the Secretary of the SIAA and a member of the Tamil Film Producers Council, during the course of an interview to a vernacular magazine, the TFPC has demanded that the actor tender an apology for his comments within a week’s time or face action.
The TFPC, in a statement, claimed that Vishal had made defamtory statements against the Producer Council in an interview he had given to the Tamil weekly Ananda Vikatan. Condemning his statements strongly, the TFPC council said that the actor would have to tender an apology within a period of seven days. In the event of the actor not doing so, the TFPC said it would not extend co-operation to any of his films other than Kaththi Sandai, which is slated to hit screens for Deepavali.
The TFPC also said that it had taken a couple of other important decisions as well. One of them pertained to the salaries of stars and technicians who were drawing a sum of over Rs 50 lakh for a project.
The TFPC said that in a bid to contain the growing expenses of producers, actors, actresses and technicians who were drawing a sum or Rs 50 lakh or more per project must henceforth incorporate a 30 per cent cut in their salaries.
