Actor Dulquer Salman on Tuesday expressed his shock and grief over the deaths of two Kannada actors, who drowned while shooting for a chase sequence for a Kannada film on Monday.
Taking to Twitter to express his thoughts on the issue, Dulquer said, “Heart goes out to the families of Kannada actors Anil & Uday! Extremely wrong that safety measures were not taken :(“
The actors — Anil and Uday– had reportedly jumped from a helicopter into a reservoir for the climax sequence of the film Masthigudi. They never surfaced after plunging into the waters from a height of around 30 feet.
Reports claim that only Duniya Vijay, the hero of the film who was also a part of the sequence, was provided a safety harness while the other two stuntmen were not provided a harness during the stunt sequence.
Ironically, in an interview to a Kannada TV channel before performing the stunt, one of the stuntmen, Uday, had expressed fear at having to do the stunt. He is believed to have told the channel that he was “not that good in swimming” and that he had never jumped into water from such a height as was being expected of him on that occasion.
Also, a diesel boat that was stationed on the banks could not go to the rescue of the stuntmen due to a technical fault.
