A magistrate court on Tuesday granted bail to actor Arun Vijay, who was booked for drunken driving. The actor, who was found to be drunk beyond the permissable level, was booked after he crashed his car into a police vehicle that was parked outside the Nungambakkam police station on Saturday.
Reports suggest that after the accident, the actor, who left in his father’s car promising to turn up for an inquiry by the traffic police, failed to do so.
Meanwhile, even as news about the accident and his subsequent bail plea kept doing the rounds, the actor took to social media to clarify his stand on the issue. He posted a letter on Twitter that read:
“To all my fans and well wishers,
I have no reason to hide and I did not commit a stupendous crime!
I had not been in town for reasons related to work and due to my mental agony.
As a law abiding citizen, I shall face the charges against me. I don’t know why this issue got blown out of proportion without getting the facts straight and not knowing the real picture.
Also, I have no clue as to what is happening around me. Whatever the situation, I shall prove my innocence in the court of law.”
