The release of the Tamil remake of the Malayalam superhit film Thattathin Marayaththu has been pushed by a couple of weeks.
Titled Meendum Oru Kadhal Kadhai, the Tamil version, which has been directed by Mithran R Jawahar, who is known to make exceptional remakes, was originally scheduled to hit screens on August 5.
However, the makers have now decided to push the release of the film by a couple of weeks. The fact that the Superstar’s Kabali is still running to full houses seems to have compelled the makers’ to postpone the release of the film by a week or two. The actual date of release is still unclear and makers say it will hit screens in a week or two.
While the Malayalam film featured Nivin Pauly as the male lead, the Tamil version features newcomer Philips Walter in the protagonist’s role. Interestingly, Isha Talwar has reprised her role in the Tamil version as well.
Director Jawahar, who usually opts for a completely different cast while making a remake, said that they did look for another suitable person to play the character of Aisha, which Isha Talwar had played in the original Malayalam version. However, he admitted he couldn’t find anyone as appropriate as Isha to play this role in the Tamil version and therefore decided to cast her itself in the remake as well.
The director also said that Isha, who was a little apprehensive at reprising her own role initially, later agreed to play the character in the Tamil version as well.
