A SouthScope Exclusive!
Most people know that Radhika Apte, who played the wife of Superstar Rajinikanth in his recent hit Kabali, is a wonderful artiste who can portray even the most difficult of characters with ease. However, what many don’t know is the fact that she loves mathematics.
Talking to SouthScope exclusively, Radhika says, ” I have always wanted to be an actor. I also love mathematics. My grandmother was a mathematician. She was the first woman to go abroad and study mathematics and she taught mathematics for 32 years. She’s written books and a very big mathematician. She was an extraordinary woman.”
Giving more details, Radhika says, “She and I would sit all night when I went to college. I went to college but never attended classes. I used to do theatre all the time. So, when I came back home, she and I would solve sums. She would usually go to bed at 5 in the morning. She used to teach me stuff that were not even in my syllabus. She taught me in a way that I never had to learn any formulae because she taught me the genesis of everything. She was marvellous.”
“My love for mathematics grew because of her and I was good at it. I have a very analytical mind but acting was my passion from the beginning and I really wanted to do it. I was doing theatre for a long time and so chose acting. But I really hope I go back to mathematics one day. I really don’t want to leave it.”
