Several celebrities from the film industry paid homage to legendary writer, director, producer and lyricist Panchu Arunachalam, who passed away today. He was 76.
He was the writer of a number of hit films including Annakili, Priya, Bhuvana Oru Kelvi Kuri, Kalyanaraman, Murattu Kaalai, Meendum Kokila, Kazhugu, Pookiri Raja, Paayum Puli, Thoongathey Thambi Thoongadhey, Guru Sishyan, Manithan, Rajadhi Raja, Singaravelan and Dharmadurai. Some of the immensely popular films that Panchu Arunachalam produced included Japannil Kalyaanaraman, Micheal Madana Kama Rajan, Solla Marandha Kadhai, Guru Sishyan and Engeyo Ketta Kural.
Sources in the film industry say that the legend passed away peacefully in his sleep. “His death has left us all shocked. We have lost a stalwart,” said a source close to the legend. Several eminent members from the film fraternity turned up at the residence of the legendary producer, where his body had been kept for visitors to pay homage. Some of those who turned up included actors Nasser, Sivakumar, Suriya, Karthi, Shanthanoo, Kreshna, Jayam Ravi, Kushboo and directors Bharathiraja, Dharani and Sundar C.
